On July 24, 1847 the "First Company" of "Mormon" pioneers, under the leadership of President Brigham Young, arrived in the valley of the Great Salt Lake after a long and hard journey over the plains from the Missouri River. There were in that company, 143 men, 3 women and 2 children. This picture is a copy of a mural painting in the Utah State Capitol Building, Salt Lake City.
