The del Coronado Hotel dining room is one of
the largest of its kind in this country. It is a
pioneer among structures employing the self-
supporting, Vaulted type ceiling. Designed as an
ellipsoid with a focal point at either end, it
requires no interior post or pillars. It remains
as built in 1888 (the sugar pine panelling retain-
ing its original finish!) except for the greatly
enlarged windows and the tapestry on the side
walls. 1000 can be accomodated in the Crown
Room.
