The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, founded in 1946,
gained university status in 1965. With a broad range of under-
graduate degrees and graduate programs at the master's level,
it has become one of the nation's fastest growing state uni-
versities. The campus is located eight miles northeast of
Charlotte on 1,000 acres served by Interstate 85, U.S. 29 and
N.C. 49.
