GRAY (FF-1054) Fast Frigate Named in honor of Sergeant Ross Franklin Gray, United States Marine Corps Reserve, who earned the Congres- sional Medal of Honor in action on 21 February 1945 during the invasion of Iwo Jima. U.S.S. GRAY was built by Todd Shipyard at Seattle, Washington and is the eighth ship of the Knox class.
