U.S. NAVAL TRAINING CENTER
Great Lakes, Illinois
Overall aerial view of USNTC's Recruit Training Command
with Lake Michigan in background. RTC's Main Gate is at
left foreground. The large double-square buildings are
recruit barracks, capable of housing more than 1,000
persons. USNTC is 35 miles north of downtown Chicago
and four miles from Waukegan. It is the oldest and
largest facility of its kind in the U.S. Its essential role is
recruit training of inductees, and the operation of service
schools for student Navy personnel.
