SERPENT MOUND STATE MEMORIAL
Aerial view of the serpent effigy. The
Serpent Mound, built by the Mound Builders,
is perhaps the best known of the effigy
figures in the country. Serpent Mound State
Memorial, comprising 60 acres, is located
seven miles northwest of Peebles, Adams
County, along State Route No. 73. The mem-
orial area is publicly owned and is admini-
stered by the Ohio State Archaeological and
Historical Society.
