Advanced engineering features
mark new WASHINGTON SPARS
Backed by many years of experience in the design and pro-
duction of logging equipment, the Washington Iron Works now
builds a telescoping steel spar, yarder and self-propelled carrier
unit incorporating many engineering advances.
Integral Washington yarder may be either a Model 158 or
Model 208. Both are of true interlocking design for increased
efficiency and speed of operation. Both yarder and carrier are
driven by the same 350-hp diesel engine, with torque converter
and four-speed transmission, forward and reverse.
The new Washington spars have received quick acceptance by
leading logging operators. Pictured here is one of the new units
with 110' mast and Model 158 yarder, at work for Crown Zeller-
bach Corp. near Grand Ronde, Ore. A Washington Trakloader
does the loading.
