This $16 million, 15-floor medical facility - dedicated in
December 1960 - contains 717 beds, 16 clinics and 11
operating rooms. Members of all branches of the Armed Forces
and their dependents are served here. Lake Michigan is seen
in the background. Great Lakes is 35 miles north of downtown
Chicago and four miles from Waukegan.
