Naval Hospital Oakland, commissioned July 1,
1942, is a general and teaching hospital. The
modern 650-bed facility for Armed Services
personnel and their dependents, dedicated June
29, 1968, replaced "temporary" buildings hasti-
ly erected to receive WWII casualties from the
Pacific.
