The Beaver. (Castor fiber.)
The Beaver is confined to the Northern Hemisphere:
being found in certain parts of Europe, in Northern Asia,
and North America. It is a rodent, and one of the most
intelligent of animals, showing remarkable ingenuity in
building its habitation, which is always on the banks of
rivers or lakes. It walks but slowly, but it is a clever
swimmer. The Beaver is trapped for its fur, which is of
considerable value.
