| This huge military installation, made up of the main post, Fort Campbell Air Base and Clarksville Base, is modern in every detail, carefully planned and constructed for the training of military personnel most needed in peace and war. First named "Camp Campbell" it was constructed in 1942-43 and has been constantly improved, Fort Campbell is 57 miles northwest of Nashville, Tennessee. The nearest cities are Clarksville, Tenn., seven miles to the south and Hopkinsville, Ky., 14 miles to the north. |
