Monticello College, Godfrey, Illinois
Serving as the cultural center for the Greater
Alton Area, Hatheway Hall, dedicated in 1963,
contains a 1,000-seat theatre, large heated swim-
ming pool, two gymnasiums, and classroom fa-
cilities. Monticello College, founded in 1835, is a
private, two-year liberal arts college for women.
