A replica of Karl Jansky's 14.6 meter rotatable antenna. This replica stands near the main entrance of the NRAO. It was given to the NRAO by the Bell Laboratories for its historical significance. In 1932 with the original antenna, Karl Jansky discovered radio waves coming from our Milky Way. His discovery paved the way for a new branch of science - radio astronomy. |
