Six weeks of filming scenes for Darryl Zanuck's 20th
Century Fox production "Viva Zapata" took place on this
picturesque street of Roma, Texas, on the banks of the
Rio Grande. The film was directed by Elia Kazan, star-
ring Jean Peters and Marlon Brando. The church and
other buildings shown here were temporarily converted
into wardrobe and dressing rooms. Many of the local
Roma citizens were used in the production.
