Christian Co., Ky. named for Colonel Wm. Christian, Pioneer settler of Kentucky, a farmer, soldier and statesman. He was brother-in-law of Patrick Henry. Served as Company Commander under Braddock. Member of General State Convention of Va. 1775-6. He was killed in an Indian skirmish in April 1786. Christian County was established Dec. 13, 1796 and Hopkinsville, 544 feet above sea level, was Incorporated in 1804
