HISTORICAL YOUNT WOOLEN MILL
Located 4 miles W. of Crawfordsville at Yountsville
on Rd. 32. Here Wilson Seawright built the first
carding mill, date unknown. In 1837 he sold to Silas
Wright, who dismantled and tore it down in 1843.
Then Dan and Alan Yount, gaining possession, built
a new carding mill. In 1849 a larger mill was added
where cloth was made. This large brick mill was
erected in 1864 and closed in 1905. Owned by Mrs.
Forrest Grimes and sons, R.R. 3, Crawfordsville,
Indiana 47933.
