THE CATHEDRAL
ON BANKS OF THE WABASH RIVER
Vincennes, Indiana
Mother of churches in Indiana, this bldg. was
built 1826 by Father Champomier, & stands
where the first log church, built about 1732,
stood. In Revolutionary War times, the formal
surrender to Col. Geo. Rogers Clark of the
Northwest Territory occurred in the log church.
Many illustrious sons of the church are buried
in the crypt beneath.
