GEORGE ROGERS CLARK FEDERAL MEMORIAL
VINCENNES, INDIANA
This memorial commemorates the winning of
the old Northwest by Col. Clark and his frontiers-
men in the war of the American Revolution. Clark
and his little heroic army, captured old Fort
Sackville here and caused the British to surrender
on February 25, 1779. The memorial was erected
by the federal government at a cost of some
$2,500,000 on land donated by Knox County and
the City of Vincennes.
