of the home of John Langdon, at Portsmouth, New
Hampshire, who devoted his fortune to the cause
of the Revolution, and fought at Bennington and
Saratoga. Governor Langdon was a delegate from his
State to the Continental Congress of 1775 and 1776 and
in 1783, and to the Constitutional Convention of 1787;
United States Senator 1789 to 1801; Governor of New
Hampshire 1805 to 1809 and from 1810 to 1811.
