No. 24. BRUTON PARISH CHURCH, WILL-
IAMSBURGH, VIRGINIA. The parish was founded
in 1632, and the church, which is the oldest in continued
use in America, was built in 1715 from drawings made by
Governor Spottswood. The font, which it is alleged, was
used in baptising Pocahontas, in the Jamestown Church
in 1612, and the sacred vessels of the communion service
used there are in this church and can be seen in the view
of the interior on card No. 25, and of the Jamestown
Church tower on card No. 20.
