UNITED HAITI CORPORATION
A Saw Mill
One of the Saw Mills of the Company, in which
is handled all timber for constructive purposes on
the railroads of the Company, and where the valu-
able exports in logwood, mahogany, cedar, dye-
woods and cabinet woods are prepared for ship-
ment. All these woods are without a peer in the
markets of the world. The average export of log-
wood is 178,000,000 pounds, while mahogany
averages over 1,000,000 feet, lignum vitae has an
output of 5,000 tons, and vois juane the same
average; while other woods, such as cedar and
cabinet woods are in the same proportion. The
question of lumbering in Haiti is a simpler one than
that of the North, and values are higher in every
case, with a smaller expense in handling.
