The Heart of Nature.
A National Monument-belonging to the
U. S. Government-the gift of Wm.
Kent.
Giant Trees-Sequoia
sempervirens-
towering 275 feet in the air.
The largest tree is 54 feet in circumfer-
ence.
These trees were sturdy saplings when
Solomon built the temple at Jerusa-
lem.
Eight varieties of ferns grow in Muir
Woods-some possessing fronds from
seven to ten feet in length.
A stroll through this primeval forest is
both awe-inspiring and instructive.
