The second largest observatory in the world,
located on top of Mount Locks (Alt. 6,791). It was
officially opened May 5, 1939. The 62-foot

telescope, which is 26 feet long and weighs 75
tons, including its 3-ton mirror. It is sighted at
the heavens through an 18-foot wide slot.
