| The old Bascule Bridge, raised to admit a large ocean going freighter, is overshadowed by the beautiful new Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge which, on the morning this photo was made first began auto traffic over its great 5,817 ft. length. Built at a cost of $17,000,000, it is the highest (234 ft.) in Texas . . . and when the Bascule Bridge is removed the largest ships plying the Gulf Coast may pass through the 400 foot wide channel with ease. |
