FC-369 LOCOMOTIVE OF THE DEATH VALLEY RAILROAD,
now at the museum at Furnace Creek Ranch. The D.V.R.R.
was an addition to the Tonopah & Tidewater Line, 16
miles long, running from Death Valley Junction to Ryan,
built at a cost of $300,000, in ten months by 400 men
and 200 mules. This road hauled 250 tons daily of borax
from Ryan. In the foreground is a wood wheel ox-cart
from the timber days of the Charleston Mountains. Death
