HALL N.S.G.H
U.S. POST OFFICE IN THE BUILDING OCCUPIED
IN THE EARLY DAYS BY HILDEBRAND'S RESTAURANT
Built in 1854. First used as a restaurant with lodging rooms above. Later a saloon occupied
the lower floor, while the upper room served as a meeting hall. The elaborate cast iron bal-
cony grill was shipped from the east around the horn.
ELIAS' TOY SHOP, NEXT DOOR, BUILT IN 1854
Originally this building housed a toy shop, but during the late 50's Chas. Schnieder bought
the property. For over twenty years it was known as "Schnieder's Tonsorial Parlor" and was Frashers
furnished with red plush barber chairs, trimmed with gold braid and silken tassels.
