Nelson loses his right eye, 1794. In 1794 Nelson was in-
charge of the Naval Brigade landed to besiege Calvis,
a town in Corsica, then held by the French. During the
siege a shot struck the ground near him, dashing a volley
of sand and small stones in his face. He was badly cut,
and the sight of the right eye quite destroyed.
