"A Musketeer, Time of Louis XIII.," by J. L. Ernest
Meissonier (the most famous master in small painting of
modern France), born February 21st, 1815, died at Paris,
1891. This picture is in the Wallace Collection, Hertford
House, London, W., and is an excellent example of the
vigour, breadth and accurate detail which characterised
this artist's work.
