Palm Canyon, along the bottom and sides of
which grow the native California Fan Palm,
(Washingtonia Filiferia). The Palms extend up the
Canyon seven or eight miles.

from the East, a view is had which gives the
real idea of the relation of Palm Springs to
desert and mountain. The town nestles close

area north of Thunderbird Ranch is carpeted
with many colored wild flowers.

donated to the city by Mr. Thomas O'Donnell,
one may view the far reaches of desert and
mountains extending to the east and south.

The proposed aerial Tramway up Mt. San
Jacinto will, when complete, be the second
one to be built in the United States, the first
being at Cannon Mountain, Franconia, N. H.
The Mt. San Jacinto Tramway will be more
than twice as long, and will rise in that
length to three times the elevation, ascending
6,000 feet in the 12,800 feet of length.
The towers will be 60 to 280 feet in height,
and the cables 24 inches in diameter. The
Tramway will, when complete, open up a
wilderness area for sightseeing and winter
sports, which has been little known to the
general public.
