Dear Vern, Yesterday was P226Beautiful, sunny, warm PUT
here in New England, so went for a drive along the STAMP
Shore north of Boston. This picture shows Portsmouth HERE
New Hampshire. That town was where our first Marr ancest
was supposed to have settled when he came from Scotland.
It seems he was in the shipping business at Kittery, Maine,
which is on the other side of the Piscataqua River from
Portsmouth, N.H. There was a nice restaurant there on the
banks, by the bridge of the Piscataqua River where we had
a wonderful Lobster dinner. The waitress tied bibs on us--
I'll send you one. It is surely interesting country around
there, and we wished that you could have been there with us.
There is a wonderful Interstate Highway, #23 95, going up
into Maine now from Boston, so it was nice driving, and the
roadside was beautiful with many trees, pines and birches,
along the roadsides. Once in awhile we'd see a large house,
Portsmouth, N. H. is a seaport town and combines with barn and all the buildings
and commerce. Shown here from the air is a fastened together--seems like a
Aerial Photo by Don Sieburg good idea for cold weather: Hope you
are fine. Love, Shy and Julia
the traditions of a storied past with present beauty
section of Portsmouth Harbor.
