The first American Astronaut to orbit the earth. The three-
orbit voyage was made in Friendship 7, seen in the back-
ground. The Mercury capsule, atop an Atlas Missile, was
put into historic orbital flight from Cape Canaveral, Florida
on February 20, 1962 at 9.47 a.m. EST.
