Additional Details:
A watercolor painting of Sunnyside, the home of Washington Irving in Tarrytown, New York. Several people are enjoying the grounds, including a couple in a carriage and two men relaxing on the lawn. The house is covered in vines and surrounded by trees. A small building with a weathervane is visible on a hill behind the house. The back of the postcard provides a brief description of Sunnyside and its famous resident, Washington Irving, creator of "Rip Van Winkle" and "Ichabod Crane." Irving called Sunnyside his "elegant little snuggery." The watercolor is by J. Henry Hill, 1887.
