RAINBOW PARROT-FISH
Pseudoscarus guacamia
HABITAT: Florida Keys, Bermuda, West Indies
south to Rio de Janeiro.
HABITS: Omnivorous; the food consists princi-
pally of burrowing mollusks, worms, corallines,
crustaceans and several species of algae. The
rainbow parrot represents the largest of the family
and reaches a weight of 60 lbs. Used for food in
some of the West Indian Islands. The flesh is very
soft but of good flavor.
