Pan Am was first carrier to put 747 in service in
January 1970. The huge 747 offers a flat ceiling
high all the way across so even passengers by win-
dows can stand straight up. Baggage handling is
speeded up by utilizing containers contoured to
dimensions of the lower compartments. Up to
50,000 gallons of jet fuel feed engines with thrust
of 45,000 lbs. The 747 is 231' long with wing-
span of 196' and tail 62 feet high.
