CALICO CEMETERY
The Cemetery located below the town of Calico is in use at
the present time. The years from 1849 to 1912 saw a great
number of young people die. This is most true in the western
mining areas. Tuberculosis and pneumonia was found in most
mining camps. The miners put in long hours under ground
and often worked for days without ever seeing the sun. Little.
was known about vitamins so deficiency diseases took its
toll. Calico was not known as a wild town and shootings
were few and far between . . . M.P.
