ANGELS CAMP, CALIFORNIA
Angels Camp was named for one of Col. Stevenson's
Volunteers, a man named Angel, who found gold along
the creek in 1848. It was Mark Twain who made Angels
Camp famous with his story of "The Jumping Frog of
Calaveras County." The camp was also the locale for
Bret Harte's story, "Mrs. Skaggs' Husbands."
