Workmen are dwarfed by the spiderwork webbing of a BMEWS
site antenna reflector rising upward from the barrens of North
America. The BMEWS antenna is 165 feet high and 400 feet long.
From a scanner building in front of each reflector, energy is
fed to the reflector and then bounced into space for the purpose
of providing approximately 15 minutes warning for the North
American Air Defense Command, the Strategic Air Command and
Civil Defense agencies should a missile attack ever be launched
against North America.
