A wooden sign describes Nature's Fish-Bowl which contains more species of salt-water fishes in greater numbers than any other fresh-water spring. These fishes come and go at will between the spring and their natural salt-water habitat. The spring produces 55,000 gallons of water per minute at a temperature of 74 degrees from a depth of 45 feet. It is the chief source of the Homosassa River (River of Many Fishes) which flows westward nine miles into the Gulf of Mexico. People fish from a wooden bridge or walkway. |
