Starvation Peak

| Between Las Vegas and Santa Fe. En route from Las Vegas to Santa Fe, via "the Indian-detour", as the traveler nears Chapelle station, Starvation Peak is seen. Tradition has it that here In 1800 a band of Spaniards were besieged by hostile Indians and starved to death. There is a cross on the summit, erected many years ago by the brotherhood of Penitentes. |
