This Chapel was completed and dedicated
in 1930. From 1568 to 1686, three Spanish:
Missions were located on St. Simons Island,
but they were abandoned after Indian up-M
risings, Pirate raids and trouble with the
English. Thus, when the present Chapel was
dedicated in 1930, two hundred and forty-four
years had elapsed since Catholic services had
been held in a Catholic Chapel on St. Simons
Island.
