The Royal Palace is built of square blocks of the
volcanic rock of the country, and is surrounded by
extensive, picturesque grounds shaded by royal palms,
and containing many rare flowering trees and shrubs.
The Palace is the old residence of the royal family (who
held court here), and stands about midway between the
foot of Punch Bowl and the sea.
