ALONG CHURCH STREET-CHARLESTON, S. C.
At left the DOCK STREET THEATRE, opened in 1736,
is the first building in America designed solely for
theatrical purposes. In center is ST. PHILIP'S
EPISCOPAL CHURCH, erected 1835, now one of
Charleston's most famous landmarks. At right THE
HUGUENOT (FRENCH PROTESTANT) CHURCH,
1681, which still uses the original liturgy. Present
structure is the third on this site.
