| This bank building was built by the Branch Bank of Missouri, which established itself on this corner in July, 1859. Slave owners have done business in its spacious hall on the second floor, where dances also were held. Brigham Young and his followers, Pony Express riders, French fur traders, all have warmed themselves before the bank's open fire before starting across the plains. |
