In the 1700's members of many tribes of
Indians would gather for special ceremonies.
Dressed in their most colorful clothing they
would participate in festivities prior to the
ceremony, and assist in preparing for the event.
Here Indians prepare for a wedding feast prior
to the ceremony at the Hassanamisco Indians
Reservation in Grafton, Massachusetts, under
the supervision of Chief Strong Horse of the
Narragansett and Pueblo Indians (r) while Little
Beaver of the Apache Indians (1) does a cere-
monial dance.
