Front:
God Bless
The Nurse!
Dedicated to the memory of
Florence Nightingale
May He guide you, true follower of God,
As you walk in the path our Master trod.
He knows your many tasks through each long day;
May your brave, loving heart be ever gay.
You are the one who told my dear, ol' Dad,
The welcome news that made his heart so glad.
How those most cheering words filled him with joy,
When first, he heard you say: "Yes, it's a boy!"
And when the patient was my darling wife,
'Twas "Nurse" who helped the Doctor save her life.
Though years may come for better, or for worse,
I'll always praise the Doctor and the Nurse.
Yes, everybody loves the noble nurse;
She is more splendid than a gold-filled purse.
Watch her on tip-toe, turning off the light;
May God bless her, kind "Angel," dressed in white.
She's always smiling, even through her tears,
Thus, helping others bear their aches and fears.
And her sweet voice has Earth's most tender tone,
Resembling music from the Heavenly throne.
And, whether she has eyes of brown, or blue,
You know they're true, when once she looks at you.
Some day, somewhere, perhaps in some far Land,
She'll give some worthy man her heart and hand.
And on that happy day with God, up There,
When good and pure will walk that golden stair,
And all of His loved ones, by Him are blest,
The faithful nurse may then lead all the rest.
