This mile-high resort is located on the mountain slopes of
the pine-covered San Jacinto Mountains. The Indians say
that a powerful demon, called Tahquitz, lives atop the
mountains. Sometimes when he is angry with people, he
stalks through the canyons wailing and howling through the
night for victims-this is what makes bad weather. . . M.P.
