PLAZA HOTEL SAN JUAN BAUTISTA Erected 1813-14 The lower floor of adobe served as barracks headquarters for Spanish soldiers stationed here to protect the Franciscan Padres in their work with the Indians. Angelo Zanetta acquired the premises in 1856- 1858. He added a second story of frame and opened the building as the Plaza Hotel in 1858.
