The Spartanburg County Library was built
in 1961 at a cost of $585,000 and is considered
to be one of the loveliest libraries in the South-
land. The building houses a colorful amphi-
theater-type story hour room for children, a large
adult reading area with its distinctive paneling,

containing an extensive collection reflecting the
historical heritage of the area.
