8 miles west of Rockford, the judicial
seat, 100 miles west of Chicago, the
world market. On the main lines of the
C. N. W. Ry., Galena division, and con-
nected with an electric interurban line
with a two hour service to and from

two grain elevators, one large lumber

ber shop, feed farn, warehouses, Mason-
ic Temple hall, two doctors, two dentists.

electric light and power service, macad-
amized paved streets, cement sidewalks
throughout the city, city hall, fully
equipped volunteer fire department. 75

being well adapted to dairying and live-
stock raising, which are the chief indus-
tries, while diversified farming is exten-
sively practised. A great deal of thoro-
bred livestock is also raised and is na-
tion lly known as a thorobred livestock
center. Improved farm land is worth
$150 to $200 per acre and is an invest-
ment worth the most careful considera-
tion of the future settler looking for a
desirab'e and prosperous location.
