Remodeling of the old Times Tower into the Allied
Chemical Tower at Times Square was completed in
mid 1965. Many of the traditions associated with the
area are being continued at the new building, such
as lowering a lighted ball at midnight each December
31 to mark the coming of the new year. Also re-
tained is the lighted electric news sign which girdles
the building just above the third floor.
